About the role
In this role, you will provide support, guidance and leadership to the permits related staff, including performance management and training.

Key responsibilities include:
Assist in the management of the end-to-end building application and permit processes, determining compliance with relevant legislation. This includes issuing of building permits (as required) and managing the day-to-day functions and activities of the permits team. Manage the mandatory inspection program and field investigations to assist clients and ensure fair and proper compliance with relevant legislation and policy. Prepare reports, submissions and provide expert and professional assessment and advice on all matters and issues as delegated by the Municipal Building Surveyor. Represent Council in public forums, legal proceedings and appeal hearings as required. Undertake statutory duties as requested by the Municipal Building Surveyor. Assist with the development and promotion of a business focus to the sourcing and delivery of services. About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a current registration in the category of Building Surveyor issued by the Victorian Building Authority. (Note: applicants that hold qualifications which would provide eligibility to obtain registration may be given consideration in certain circumstances and are encouraged to apply).
Proficient working knowledge, and the ability to interpret relevant legislation. Exceptional conceptual, analytical, investigative, interpretative and problem-solving skills. Confident and collaborative communication style with the ability to produce positive outcomes with diverse stakeholder groups. Positive, proactive and professional attitude with a flexible approach.
