A bit about the role Reporting to the Team Leader Building Permits & Inspections you will drive business success through effective and timely checking of Building Permits, building relationships with clients, marketing the business and providing expert advice and guidance to clients and the community.
You will provide accurate technical advice to rate payers and builders on building matters and also undertake mandatory building inspections when required.
What you'll deliver Ensure that Council's statutory obligations are met Examine plans, specifications and documents lodged by applicants for various building permits Prepare appropriate responses as required to process and issue permits, consents and other applications. Make sure that essential service inspections are carried out and report prepared Prepare and issue Building Notices and Orders Provide emergency response for inspection of damaged buildings Contribute to the development, mentoring and support of staff What you'll bring Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Building Surveying A proficient understanding of the Building Act, Building Regulations and Australian Standards Knowledge of construction methodology and terminology Registration as a Building Surveyor Limited required (Unlimited desirable) with the Victorian Building Authority Registration as a Building Inspector (Unlimited) with the Victorian Building Authority, experience in the examination and approval of applications of building permits for all classes of buildings.
