This position takes a proactive role in ensuring that Building Services meets its objective and requirements under the National Construction Code, statutory legislation relating to building and demolition work, other related statutes, Local Laws and policies within the Shire of Esperance.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Process all applications relating to building (certified, uncertified, demolition, occupancy, built strata) within statutory timeframes, in an efficient manner, with a high focus on providing quality customer service.Provide technical and statutory advice to a wide range of stakeholders.Undertake inspections of buildings and pool safety barriers.Assist and respond to initiatives in the review and development of policies, work procedures and general improvement of Development Services.This is a permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week.About YouIn order to succeed and thrive in this position, you must have:Formal qualification as a Building Surveyor Level 2.High attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to resolve problems where there is technical or specialist complexity relating to building approvals.Ability to work in a team environment with a diverse area of daily tasks which may include technical assessments, inspections, customer service, compliance, and in-house guidance or liaison.BenefitsSalary: $94,580.00 per annum.Permanent staff are entitled to:5 weeks annual leave per year.Minimum of 11.5% superannuation employer contribution.Superannuation co-contribution offered to a maximum of 5%.Free access to the Bay of Isles Leisure Centre (pool & gym).Access to career development opportunities.Relocation assistance.Uniform allowance.Flexible work arrangements.Employee wellness initiatives including Employee Assistance Program, skin checks and flu vaccinations.Applications must be made via the Shire of Esperance online recruitment portal by clicking the APPLY button below and include a current Resume and a Cover Letter.Further details are available in the Position Description, found on the recruitment portal, or contact Human Resources on 08 9071 0647.
