Building Surveyor Commercial Processing

Our commercial team is responsible for undertaking the building consent authority functions under the Building Act in relation to commercial and industrial projects. Working with our customers, you will ensure buildings in Selwyn are safe and fit for purpose for our growing community.
You will work as part of our close-knit team to deliver a superior end-to-end customer experience.
Your key responsibilities will include: Customer engagement through pre-application meetings.Processing building consent applications to ensure they comply with the NZ Building Code.Compiling and issuing compliance schedules and compliance schedule statements.Our ideal candidate will be: Calm, honest, and approachable with relevant BCA experience enabling you to hit the ground running.Detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture when delivering work.A natural problem solver who can analyze information and make rational judgments.Holding a commercial processing competency.You will also have: A NZ Diploma in Building Surveying (Level 6) or equivalent NZ qualification.Understanding and application of the Building Act, Regulations, Building Code, Standards, and the consent process.Ability to make technical decisions using sound judgment, risk analysis, and research.High level of digital literacy and experience in a range of software applications.Excellent interpersonal skills.Strong time management skills.Current Class 1 driver's licence.What we can offer: Great work-life balance with flexibility.Career coaching and development.Life insurance.Wellbeing and volunteer leave.Three days paid leave between Christmas and New Year.Two weeks paid Partners Leave.Sick leave from day one.Discounts with local and national businesses.About us: Selwyn is one of the fastest-growing districts in New Zealand.
