We are looking for a dedicated Building Officer to join our client's local government team in Maitland, South Australia. Position Purpose: As a Building Officer, you will be responsible for conducting building assessments, compliance inspections, and development compliance duties in accordance with relevant legislation, codes, and policies. Your expertise will help safeguard our community's environment and enhance the quality of our development processes. Key Responsibilities: Provide administrative and technical advice to ensure compliance with the Building Code, Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act, and other relevant regulations. Conduct thorough research, investigations, and inspections of building works. Advise the public, industry, and stakeholders on building and development matters. Represent the local government in professional settings, including committees and workshops. Process development applications efficiently while adhering to statutory timeframes. Maintain effective communication with various stakeholders, including Council members and the public. What We're Looking For: A tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or related field. Eligibility for appointment as a Level 1, 2, 3, or 4 Building Surveyor/Inspector. Proven ability to communicate effectively, negotiate, and resolve conflicts. Strong analytical skills to read and interpret plans and specifications. A proactive and self-motivated approach, with excellent time management abilities. A working knowledge of relevant Acts and Codes, and experience in local government is highly desirable.
