Job Description The role of the Building Consultant is to promote and deliver world class forensic consulting services, with emphasis on Building Consulting. Provides causation investigations and reports for building related matters, reinstatement scopes of works, building defect investigations and reports cost estimating services for failures, damages, or defects.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Investigates the origin and cause of failures, damages, or defects in the building fields within residential, commercial, and industrial sites. 
Participates in catastrophe responses, such as hurricanes, tornados, floods, wildland fires, and earthquakes. 
Performs field investigations, leads multi-party examinations, and documentation of damaged property. 
Researches failure modes and code requirements as needed, prepares recommendations for repair and/or remediation as appropriate . 
Prepares accurate , clear, thorough, and concise reports and letters
Provides expert witness services including reports and testimony, as a fact or expert witness for product liability cases, civil or federal court cases, and, occasionally, criminal cases. Investigates and may testify in a deposition or courtroom setting, about the cause, extent or source of damages or professional liability. 
Analyzes the failure of building systems, determines the cause of failures, evaluates the quality of construction or reviews design or maintenance procedures. 
Maintains established relationships with current clients and consultants and resolves challenges by providing the best solution, whether it's simply finding the answer or taking the initiative to find an innovative new solution. 
Required Experience:    Minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction , adjusting or related field. Required Skills /Abilities :    Sound written and oral communication skills, problem-solving , influencing , and critical thinking skills . Ability to work in catastrophic environments , such as the aftermath of natural disasters, weather events, etc . , for an extended period .  Safety mindset with the ability to foresee project risks associated with investigations.
Commitment to confidentiality and to discreetly handle sensitive information .
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in a work capacity .
Preferred Experience:    Experience with commercial , residential, and industrial facilities is desired.  Experience working with law firms and insurance companies is a plus.
Significant experience as a license d contractor is preferred.
Word, Excel, Adobe and other industry systems experience is preferred.
