We are eagerly seeking a forward-thinking Cash Management Co-op/intern, available for a preference for an eight-month term Summer and Fall 2025 placement (May to December) or the possibility of a four-month term for the Summer 2025 work term (May to August).

In this transformative phase, our Cash Management team within the Investment Operations department is taking a proactive stance in managing client liquidity and shaping the organization's short-term funding strategies.
As a co-op/intern, you will support high volumes of complex cash activities, contribute to the development of reports, create concise documentation, and assist in cash reconciliation.
Additionally, you will step in on key tasks, ensuring the smooth functioning of our operations amid rapid technological advancements.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH Investment Operations (IO) is comprised of four branches: Derivatives, Collateral & Engineering, Trade Management, Cash Operations and Business Solutions.
The department delivers core capabilities in areas including trade settlements, corporate actions, derivatives, collateral management, foreign exchange, and cash services, while collaborating with internal partners to design and coordinate end-to-end solutions and providing leadership for the custodian relationship.

The Cash Management team is part of the Cash Operations branch and is accountable for optimizing cash balances for clients and asset classes.
This team focuses on delivering BCI clients and asset classes with expertise on funding, minimizing transaction costs, and maximizing netting opportunities to meet obligations and support value add strategies.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Supporting the management of complex cash activities amidst our evolving technical infrastructure Creating detailed reports and developing concise documentation to support cash management processes Executing testing procedures and stepping in on key operational tasks as necessary Contributing to the team's transformation into active cash management and short-term funding decision-making Prepare weekly and monthly reports for the department and management teams Ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the team REQUIRED SKILLS A fundamental knowledge of financial and investment-related disciplines is essential Ability to communicate professionally, clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail Has an interest in investment management, a dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn Quick adaptability to new technologies and changing environments A learner's mindset, with a keen interest in continuous professional development Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, and the ability to work with large data Knowledge of Bloomberg AIM, R-studio and/or VBA is an asset Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines WHAT WE OFFER A dynamic, supportive team environment where innovation is encouraged Development of practical skills in financial and liquidity management in a leading financial institution Exposure to some of the most talented, approachable, and inspiring people in the industry The ability to opt-in for access to Dialogue, a user-friendly app that offers virtual primary care, employee and family services, and mental health supports Time to connect with co-op students & interns at BCI – build your network and shared learning BCI investment professionals lead a monthly Investment Club to share industry knowledge with employees who work in other departments 2 paid days per year for volunteering Competitive pay: Mid / Back Office: $2,260.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,090.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,260.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree or joining the Investment Strategy & Risk department and $2,090.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate) Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location THE DETAILS Work term Options: Summer 2025 (May to August) or Summer and Fall 2025 (May to December) Department: Investment Operations Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home.
