The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system. The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 475 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.
Position: Briefings Officer (Full Time, Ongoing) The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) has an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our organisation as a Briefings Officer within the Briefings Services division.
Reporting to the Manager, Briefing Services, the Briefings Officer is responsible for providing support services to the Briefings team.
About the Role: Deliver high quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Under direction maintain accurate barristers' contracts and financial records, review invoices for payment. Assist with general re-briefing of counsel in hearings. Update and maintain case lists for Weekly Reports, briefing counsel, and Counsel Allocation Meetings. As our ideal candidate you will have: Knowledge of case management systems, particularly the Prosecution Recording Information System Management, would be highly regarded. Sound communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence relevant stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in an environment of change, often with competing priorities. Excellent attention to detail and ability to prepare accurate written correspondence, reports and other relevant documentation.
