About the Opportunity There is currently one permanent – full time position available for immediate filling, with other vacancies anticipated to arise in the next 12 months. This vacancy presents a great opportunity to use your experience in criminal prosecutions to play an important role in the Department's prosecution processes across its Animal Welfare, Biosecurity and Fisheries portfolios. Reporting to the Director Governance and Standards, you will provide advice, direction, and coordination in relation to the preparation and completion of statewide prosecution briefs across the Department's legislation. You will also provide advice to DPIRD regional prosecutors, compliance supervisors and senior managers. You will have the opportunity to work closely with others to mentor a field of compliance staff to interpret legislation, and implement and maintain brief standards.
The Ideal Candidate As the ideal candidate, you will have the ability to coordinate and deliver prosecution briefs across the metropolitan and state-wide area. You will be a compliance expert and have the following skills, experience and attributes:
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in prosecution brief preparation, review, compilation and assessment within a law enforcement or a similar environment.Demonstrated knowledge in criminal law practices, and the West Australian legal framework, processes and judicial system.Understanding of criminal prosecutions from your time spent gathering evidence, conducting investigations and spending time in Court, ideally including experience as a prosecutor.Excellent relationship management and mentoring skills to ensure briefs are consistently managed to a high standard.High degree of integrity and a strong work ethic.Great communication skills to foster collaborative and supportive relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external to the Department.For further information and special requirements for this role please see attached Job Description Form (JDF).

Employment Conditions and Additional Information DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
