Breakthrough Senior Research Fellow in Suicide Prevention Research & Fellowships (Education & Training)
Fixed term for 3 years | Full-Time at 1.0 FTE Appointable at either Academic Level B or Level C About College of Education, Psychology and Social Work

About the Role
The College of Education, Psychology and Social Work has a life-changing research opportunity as the Breakthrough Senior Research Fellow/Research Fellow in Suicide Prevention (appointable at either Academic Level B or Level C). As the successful incumbent, you will undertake research in suicide and suicide prevention with a particular focus on male mental health and wellbeing, including across the lifespan.
Research areas of focus include, but are not restricted to, understanding causation, risk, and protective factors, as well as innovations in interventions to prevent suicide and suicidal behaviour. The research program is expected to result in high quality outcomes that meaningfully contribute to new knowledge that can lead to more impactful and cost-effective programs.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role at the Research Fellow (Level B) are:
Contributing to research that informs and builds research capacity to understanding male suicide and suicidal behaviour with an emphasis on innovative preventive interventions. Making a significant contribution to ethical, high quality and innovative research through sustained high-quality publications and external research grants. Contributing to research leadership by fostering research excellence in suicide prevention. Being actively involved in strategic planning and professional activities relevant to the promotion of research. Actively supervising and mentoring honours and postgraduate research students. Some of the key responsibilities of the role at the Senior Research Fellow (Level C) are:
Leading research that informs and builds research capacity to understanding male suicide and suicidal behaviour. Making a significant contribution to ethical, high quality and innovative research through sustained high-quality publications and external research grants. Contributing to research leadership by fostering research excellence in suicide prevention. Taking a lead role in the identification, coordination, and submission of applications for external research income. Developing and maintaining productive strategic relationships with a range of stakeholders. About You

Completion of a PhD in a relevant mental health field. Demonstrated evidence of an excellent research track record in mental health and suicide. Demonstrated experience in quantitative research methodology. Demonstrated contribution to activities in the broader suicide prevention research field. Demonstrated experience delivering project targets on time. Some of the key position capabilities of the Senior Research Fellow (Level C) include:
Completion of a PhD in a relevant mental health field. Demonstrated evidence of an outstanding research track record in mental health and suicide. Demonstrated experience in quantitative research methodology. Demonstrated leadership in the suicide prevention research field. Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills and experience in collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Life at Flinders
