Job DescriptionThe Age is looking for a Breaking News Reporter to join the news team. The role will partner directly with the editors of the masthead, as well as their counterparts at The Sydney Morning Herald in Sydney.
Day to day you will: Prepare clear, accurate, balanced, well-written stories in a timely mannerEnsure all copy meets legal requirementsTake ownership of stories/issues and follow up stories when appropriateDemonstrate excellent news judgement and knowledge of current affairsEnsure the highest standard of accuracy, ethics and editorial qualityMeet agreed deadlines.QualificationsWhat we would like to see on your resume: Previous experience in a major newsroomExcellent writing and communication skillsAbility to deliver to tight deadlinesProven ability to quickly respond to breaking news and an ability to identify contacts for comment.Additional InformationThe role is based in our Docklands office and will include day and night shifts (including weekends and public holidays) on a rotating roster.
Please note there will be a writing test as part of the interview process.
