An exciting opportunity for a full-time biodiversity assessment officer with a strength in botany has opened working out of our Kariong office, NSW.We are seeking a botanist with a minimum science degree majoring in botanical study or similar discipline. Those who are passionate about plant ecology and have experience in the field of ecological consulting are recommended to apply.Key CompetenciesAs a botanist with Travers bushfire & ecology, you will have the necessary skills and experience to undertake the following:Field botanical survey using accepted industry methodologies to identify species, populations and/or vegetation communities.Experience in the review, auditing and documentation of reports for conservation agreements.Experience in preparation, costing and management of biodiversity stewardship sites.Experience in bushland, wetland, mine site and threatened species habitat restoration.Assist in the preparation of biodiversity offset assessments.Accurately identify threatened flora and undertake competent EEC classification under the BC Act and EPBC Act.Prepare ecological assessments in accordance with the EP&A Act, the BC Act and the EPBC Act.Essential CriteriaRelevant tertiary qualifications, or soon to graduate with relevant tertiary qualifications.A high level of attention to detail.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.High level competencies with the MS Office suite.Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, as you will liaise with team members from different disciplines, clients, and government agencies to ensure delivery of innovative solutions that meet client and broader community expectations.Be flexible in geographic locations of work as some travel and some overnight stays may be required.Highly organised to plan and manage projects.What Can We Offer the Ideal Candidate?Travers bushfire & ecology can offer flexible work arrangements for proven reliable and independent employees.We focus on developing professional careers through the provision of ongoing career development, and generous opportunities for training and industry group involvement.
