ABOUT US The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation is one of Sydney's largest frontline charities and has been operating for almost 40 years. Our mission is to provide assistance to address the cause and effect of homelessness and poverty, faced by marginalised individuals. We succeed in achieving this through a combination of caring services like food provision, medical and social welfare, and education. We are currently seeking a Bookkeeper / Payroll Officer to support the Head of Finance with day-to-day financial operations on a fixed term full-time basis. THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Payroll Officer to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and processing payroll. This position will work closely with our Head of Finance, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and assisting various departments with financial data and reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES • Accurately record and reconcile financial transactions, manage accounts payable, and process payroll for the organisation.
• Ensure timely payroll distribution, superannuation and tax payments, while assisting staff with payroll-related queries.
• Prepare and update financial statements and reports, including cash flow forecasts and income statements.
• Assist in financial audits, compliance reporting, and training staff on financial processes as needed.
• Assist Head of Finance with other ad hoc duties when required.
To be considered for this position, you will have: • Minimum 3 years' experience in bookkeeping and payroll (required).
• Proficiency in Xero and Key Pay (required).
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (desirable).
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and maintain integrity.
• Empathy for individuals from marginalised backgrounds and able to handle competing priorities.
