Bookkeeper / Accounts Team Leader

Due to ongoing company growth, we are currently seeking an experienced and proficient Bookkeeper to join our team full-time. The bookkeeper will take charge of day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, manage one staff member, accounts payable, and receivable, act as a backup for payroll, and handle other associated activities.
Key Responsibilities: Supervising: One staff member, Accounts Payable and Receivable, performing office management and administrative tasks as needed. Payroll Processing: Act as a backup for payroll including commission calculations using Xero Payroll. Data Entry: Accurately check/reconcile customer and supplier invoices in the accounting system and correct any errors. Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure financial records are accurate and up to date. BAS Preparation: Preparing and lodging monthly BAS on the business portal. Reporting: Generate and analyse reports to assist management and our external accountant in financial decision-making. Month-End Activities: Support month-end closing activities, including reconciliations and preparation of financial statements. GST: Ensuring the accuracy of GST coding in Xero. Collections: Manage customer collections by following up on outstanding invoices and ensuring timely payments. Customer/Client Communication: Respond to inquiries via email and phone, providing exceptional service and support. About You: Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role. Demonstrated expertise in bookkeeping, payroll and office management. Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment while working independently. Positive and proactive attitude. Excellent time-management abilities. Proficiency with Xero functions (minimum 3-5 years full-time experience). Proficient in MS Office suite, mainly Excel's core arithmetic functions. Possession of NSW Driver's license and reliable vehicle. Full Australian working rights and current residency. Ideally, experience with Datagate billing software (or similar) but not essential. Skills: Ability to investigate issues and find effective solutions. Strong interpersonal, organisational and time management skills.
