Casual Applications Close: Monday, 18 November, 2024 The Role:Casual positions availableBoarding House Assistants share responsibility for the welfare of approximately 110 students from Years 7 – 12 who come from country/regional Australia and overseas.Tiddeman (Boarding) House is situated on the Kew campus in a heritage building. It is one of Australia's most respected and established Boarding Houses. Our underlying philosophy is to empower boarders to take charge of their own learning, resulting in confident young women who create their own future.Some of your primary duties and responsibilities will include the following:Boarding House Assistants are required to supervise students when they are in the BH during the day and overnight, ensuring a calm, secure and safe environment is established where all members of the boarding community are treated with respect and dignity.Boarding House Assistants have a shared responsibility to ensure efficient and active supervision, quality care and pastoral support to all boarders in the House.Boarding House Assistants who work on the weekend are expected to organise and prepare for an in-house activity designed to engage the boarders – this might be a cooking or craft-based activity, it could be a physical activity such as taking a group walk or running an outside activity.Actively support the routine and protocols for the Boarding HouseFoster and provide a supportive communityBe responsive and available to students and provide support where necessary.Liaise with teaching staff regarding specific students and their learning needsAssist in ensuring that all Boarders comply with all relevant MLC Boarding House and MLC College policies and proceduresEnsure the Boarding House is an environment where each Boarders' self-esteem and sense of worth are enhanced and where values of responsibility, respect, compassion and courage are fosteredMaintaining accurate records of day-to-day correspondence and eventsThe schoolMLC is a leading independent girls' day and boarding school in the inner east of Melbourne.
