Boarding Head of House and Teacher Full time opportunity Term 1, 2025 Commencement Onsite accommodation provided Toowoomba Grammar School (TGS) is looking for a caring, dedicated and experienced individual to join our Boarding House as a Head of House and Teacher in the Senior School (Years 7-12) to commence Term 1, 2025.
The Head of House provides a supportive and aspirational environment, in which the wellbeing and interests of each individual boy are nurtured, enabling him to develop his character, and be the best he can be. Our teachers are passionate about boys' education and providing an inspiring and broad curriculum for all boys informed by best practice and evidence. Teaching experience in English, Science, Mathematics, Drama, Engineering and Design, or Geography will be favourably considered.
About the Position TGS Boarding Staff must have the ability to provide exceptional pastoral care, excellent organisational and communication skills and show genuine interest and compassion to our Boarders. Heads of House:
provide support for the development of the Schools Strategic Plan as it applies to the pillar of Character and Wellbeing; ensure the pastoral care wellbeing and character development outcomes required by parents are in line with expectations of the School; assume responsibility for the development and maintenance of facilities within the Boarding House; and assume responsibility for the management of Boarding House staff. TGS Teachers are responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned to the TGS teaching and learning framework, policies and practices of TGS.
Selection Criteria: You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:
the care and leadership of boys and staff in a boarding house; facilitating personal growth and leadership of boys and staff in the boarding house; fostering quality relationships and programs within the boarding house; providing effective role modelling to the boys and staff. As a Teacher you will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:
planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs that foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of students, confirming that the programs cater for the learning needs and wellbeing of all students; planning, designing and delivering differentiated learning programs that address variations in learning styles and ability levels; incorporating the appropriate use of ICT and related technologies into your teaching practice to enhance student learning in the classroom; delivering service excellence to parents and carers by proactively engaging with and responding promptly and courteously to enquiries and requests for information; ongoing development of classroom practice and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning; contributing to the boys' learning experience through your contribution to co-curricular programs; and ongoing personal and professional development. Candidates must also be registered, or eligible for registration, as teachers in Queensland and be willing to participate in the co-curricular programme and pastoral life of the School.
