About Blackwater Mine : Situated 73 kilometres south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 80 kilometres. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline. About The Role We are seeking a experienced and influential Open Cut Examiner/ Open Cut Overseer to join our team at our Queensland coal mine. With the ability to elevate safety standards and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of fostering collaboration, influencing teams and implementing safety initiatives. The Open Cut Examiner/ Open Cut Overseer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, inspecting mine operations, and identifying potential hazards to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all personnel on site. What You'll Do Conduct regular inspections of the mine site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with the Health, Safety Management System and safety regulations. Provide technical /management advice and coaching for the developing mine plans to achieve safe and efficient production levels. Collaborate with production supervisors, superintendents and mine planners to meet Whitehaven Coal objectives and targets. Identify and provide reports /communication for continuous improvement across risk and production. Investigate incidents and accidents and provide recommendations for improvements to prevent reoccurrence What You'll Bring Experience as an Open Cut Examiner/ Open Cut Overseer Thorough knowledge of Queensland coal mining regulations and safety standards You are performance and results drive with strong relationship skills that enable you to drive team best results You will have an Open Cut Examiner's Certificate OCE, S1, S2, S3 (or equivalent) You have the ability to mentor and guide large teams in complex coal mining environment Why Whitehaven Coal?
