Within this traineeship you will:Study a bachelor degree in environmental health at Western Sydney University by distance part-time and attend workshopsHave access to paid study leave and tutoringHave university fees paid for all subjects you passHave structured on-the-job trainingBe part of the Aboriginal Environmental Health Officer trainee networkWork in the office and out in the communityInspect swimming pools, food, skin penetration and other businessesRespond to enquiries and investigate complaintsDo you enjoy working to protect health and the environment?
If so, then we would love to hear from you!Qualifications and experienceEssential:Evidence of previous education and training or work experience that will enable successful enrolment in the Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) at Western Sydney UniversityAboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin.
Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted in the community as such.
Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977Current class C driver's licenceDesirable:Interest in current environmental health issuesDemonstrated high level of oral and written communication skillsComputer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applicationsDemonstrated analytical and problem-solving skillsRemuneration and benefitsThe salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.
