If this sounds like something you want to be involved in, we are now looking for a Project Geologist – Exploration to join the Exploration Team to contribute to Resource replacement and growth for Black Cat and gain exposure to project to mine development along the way!
This position will be Perth-Based with significant campaign field time at our Company-owned assets, including Paulsens Gold Operation, Coyote Gold Operation and Kal East Gold Project on a variable roster.
About the Opportunity Being the right-hand to the Senior Exploration Geologist, this position is responsible for the planning, execution and supervision of advanced exploration programs through:
Contributing to the development and ranking of exploration drilling targets, Resource definition and Resource extension drill targets. Planning, implementing, and participating in near mine and greenfields exploration programs. Supervising personnel, drilling and other contractors. Compiling and assessing geological information and updating geological data in database. Interpreting logging and drilling results to assist in the evaluation of geological modelling, resource estimation and subsequent economic evaluation. Surface bedrock and regolith mapping and sampling in remote and challenging environments. About You Suited to a self-starter, who values "the team helps each other out", prepared to be both hands-on and strategic. Being able to thrive in a physically active position and being comfortable working in hot conditions is a must!
To be successful in this role you must have:
Tertiary degree in Geoscience or a related discipline with at least 5 years in exploration – with experience in narrow vein orogenic gold preferred. Genuine interest in exploration and near mine extension geology, as happy to be in the field as in the office, and the desire to be part of a discovery team. Experience in planning and executing campaign programs including managing drilling and other contractors. High degree of computer literacy and highly developed skills with geological modelling packages (Leapfrog), with geostatistical software experience a bonus, and GIS software packages (e.g. QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo). Experience working for a similarly sized company and/or an understanding of limitations and constraints and a requirement to be hands-on, that provides challenges and opportunities, whilst growing a junior company is desirable.
