It's an exciting time to join Black Cat Syndicate Limited. With production underway at Paulsens and Kal East, our multidisciplinary Exploration and Resource Development teams are working on the next phase of our five-year vision to become a sustainable multi-operation gold producer.
If this sounds like something you want to be involved in, we are looking for a Principal Resource Geologist who is not afraid of a challenge, prepared to be both hands-on and practical whilst also being strategic and a self-starter, to help manage and deliver all Mineral Resources required by the company.
The position is permanent, based in our Perth corporate office on a Monday – Friday roster, with regular site visits to the various Company owned assets including Paulsens Gold Operation, Coyote Gold Operation and Kal East Gold Project. We believe in balancing life and work and are happy to support flexible working arrangements including working from home options.
About the Opportunity
This exciting opportunity sees you as the technical leader for all things Resource including:
Overseeing the geological database and data validation. Collaborating with the Exploration and Geology Manager to ensure accurate resource estimation and compliance with JORC standards. Developing appropriate Resource models from Greenfields exploration through to operations. Providing technical support for resource modelling to site geology teams. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to efficiently advance mine extension projects to mining stage. Leading the preparation of reports on exploration results, mineral resources, and the annual Competent Person's Report (CPR). You will also be involved in supporting ground-up mine studies and seeking new business opportunities to complement the existing operations, increase Life of Mine and annual production.
About You
Key to success will be your ability to lead with a collaborative attitude, encouraging knowledge. You will need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact proactively at all levels of the company, while able to handle a diverse workload of competing priorities. You also need to have the following:
Passionate about being part of a growing company! A tertiary qualification in Geosciences (or related discipline), with preference for post-graduate studies in Geostatistics. Experience at a senior level in Resource Development, Exploration or Mine Geologist positions, preferably gold. Proven experience in non-linear estimation techniques would be well regarded. Competent person for JORC Resource reporting in Archean gold. High level of understanding of QA/QC procedures, drilling and sampling practices and standard gold industry laboratory analytical methods. Experience working for a similarly sized company and/or an understanding of limitations and constraints and a requirement to be hands-on, that provides challenges and opportunities, whilst growing a junior company is desirable. High degree of computer literacy and experience in the use of geological software for mining operations and estimation (Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine, Supervisor etc).
