In this hands-on outdoor role, you will contribute to ecological restoration and conservation efforts, ensuring these spaces thrive for residents and visitors alike. This position requires a passion for native plants and ecosystems, along with the physical ability to perform daily fieldwork in varying weather conditions.As a Biodiversity Officer in the Parks and Gardens team, you'll make a positive impact by:Maintaining and managing biodiversity sites through herbicide application, hand weeding, brush-cutting, and woody weed removalIdentifying native and weed species to support ecological restoration projectsPromoting ecosystem longevity through habitat creation and regeneration processesLiaising and assisting with horticulture supervisor, stakeholders and assisting with the procurement and delivery of suppliesSerco is a place for youYou are passionate about the environment and enjoy working outdoors. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure you make a meaningful impact on Melbourne's natural spaces.To be successful in this role you'll have:Minimum AQF 5 (Diploma) Qualifications in Conservation and Land Management, Environmental Science, Horticulture or similarChem Cert (Desirable)Current Driver's LicenceWorking with Children CheckKnowledge of native and indigenous plants, as well as weed speciesDemonstrated experience in conservation, land management, or similar rolesUnderstanding of ecological restoration principles and techniquesPractical experience with brush-cutters, augers, and pesticide applicationYou do not need to match every listed expectation to apply for this position.
