About the opportunity We are currently seeking a Rail Corridor Protection Officer to join our Vegetation Management Field Team for an immediate start. At Biodiversity Australia, finding the right candidate with a strong commitment and alignment to our company values is a priority. For this reason, we are dedicated to supporting the right person and willing to offer training assistance toward their Rail Corridor Protection Officer (RCPO) certification or relocation support if needed.
You will be responsible for ensuring safe working practices are adhered to and quality work standards are achieved in accordance with Queensland Rail's Safety Management System and Safe working procedures.
As a field role, it is important that you are happy to work in a variety of weather conditions.
This is a long-term project offering a secure and stable position for the right candidate, so we are looking to build a committed team.
About you The following are a requirement: Rail Corridor Protection Officer (RCPO) qualified or seeking to obtain Manual Car Licence Ability to pass a police check RIW card QR - Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC) Cat 3 Medical The following requirements/skills are highly desirable but not essential: Protection Officer accreditation would be very highly regarded ACDC Licence Experience/interest in identification of species both native and weeds Experience & knowledge in use of handling of a variety of agricultural chemicals Conservation Land Management Cert II, III or higher (preferred) (now called conservation and ecosystem) Experience with equipment operations & maintenance such as zero turn mowers, chainsaws, brush-cutters etc. is desirable Tractor and slasher tickets or experience such as Conduct Tractor Operations Course (RIIMP0315D) or similar 4WD experience and towing experience HR or MR truck licence All applicants should: Be flexible to work away for rostered work outside of the Toowoomba region Have the ability to work unsupervised Have the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team Be happy to work in a variety of weather conditions Be physically fit and able to undertake labour intensive work Be reliable and hard working Have their own reliable vehicle What we offer Full on the job training and ongoing professional development opportunities Above award wages and all PPE supplied (you will require your own steel cap work boots) Stability; long term project Monday to Friday daytime hours; no weekend or night work We are encouraging all interested persons to apply without delay.
