Biological & Biomedical Sciences (Science & Technology) AdvanCell is expanding its clinical trial program, developing and translating novel 212Pb-based therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for multiple difficult-to-treat cancers. Part of this program is the establishment of a patient-derived blood biobank to enable in-depth analysis of the mechanisms-of-action of 212Pb-Targeted Alpha Therapy (TAT) and the development of new biomarkers for assessing tumour response. AdvanCell is currently undertaking the first 212Pb-based PSMA TAT phase I/II clinical trial for patients with advanced prostate cancer (TheraPb), which is currently enrolling patients.
AdvanCell is seeking a motivated individual to oversee and manage the biobanking repository which has been developed for TheraPb. The successful applicant will be responsible for processing and biobanking of the blood samples and supporting the analyses of samples to explore novel interactions between 212Pb-PSMA TAT and the immune system.
The individual will work closely with the Preclinical and Clinical Development Teams and be located within AdvanCell's state-of-the-art radiopharmaceutical laboratories at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) in Brisbane. On a day-to-day basis, you will report directly to the Associate Director Preclinical Operations. As the company's drug development pipeline and clinical trials program expands, there will be scope to grow the biobanking repository to include samples from additional cancer indications.
Key Responsibilities and DutiesBlood processing and storage: In a timely manner, receive, process and store patient-derived blood samples that are acquired as part of the TheraPb trial. (Note: Some blood samples once delivered to the TRI require immediate processing to enable investigation of specific immune cell populations. This may require processing and analyses outside normal working hours).Follow established protocols for processing of samples, ensuring accuracy and consistency.Develop and refine protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with team members.Compile data and contribute to written reports and oral presentations.Analyses of samples: Assist the AdvanCell team and research collaborators in the analysis of plasma samples, which may include performing immune cell assays and extraction of ctRNA and ctDNA for sequencing.Develop and implement a protocol for investigating immune cell populations using flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), which is available at the TRI.Laboratory Management: Assist with general laboratory management tasks, including organisation, cleaning, and upkeep.Participate in the day-to-day maintenance of preclinical laboratories.Assist in the training and supervision of new employees and visiting staff, including students and scientific collaborators.Essential Skills, Qualifications, Industry and Educational RequirementsPhD in a health, biology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Experience working within a multidisciplinary team with proficiency in laboratory techniques and procedures relating to processing and the analysis of blood samples.Experience and background in immunology.Sound knowledge and understanding of the use of flow cytometry and FACS.Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues in a team-oriented environment.High level of communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with personnel via telephone, email, and in person.Strong attention to detail in carrying out experimental procedures and careful documentation of experimental work.Sound organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, work independently, and meet deadlines.Ability to learn new experimental procedures and techniques with appropriate supervision.Desirable Skills, Qualifications, Industry and Educational RequirementsExperience with bioinformatics pipelines relating to transcriptomic/proteomics/public database searches.Experience with advanced laboratory techniques and scientific equipment.Experience or training in project management or coordination within a research setting.Experience in preparing detailed written reports, documentation, and presentations.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex experimental issues.Proven ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.If this sounds like you, apply now!
