This is a part time (29 hours per week) continuing position with FTE salary in the range $98,582 - $107,349 (HEW 7), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

About This Opportunity The Bilingual Counsellor supports the mental health and wellbeing of enrolled students by delivering high-quality counselling services and facilitating workshops, group sessions, and educational programs.
The role also involves developing online resources and implementing prevention and intervention initiatives focused on mental health and wellbeing.
Additionally, the Bilingual Counsellor may contribute to the efforts of the Sexual Misconduct Support Unit, providing assistance to members of the UQ community impacted by sexual assault or harassment that may affect their academic progress.

Key responsibilities will include:

Provide individual and group counselling, as well as brief therapy interventions, to support student mental health and well-being.
Respond to crisis situations and provide support to students who have experienced sexual assault or harassment.
Develop and deliver mental health education programs and workshops.
Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and liaise with university staff on student matters.
Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.
About You Relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, counselling, or a related field.
Significant experience in providing mental health services, both specialist and generalist counselling.
Demonstrated expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions and specialist counselling relating to sexual assault / sexual harassment.
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver group presentations related to student development, mental health and wellbeing.
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese, and a strong understanding of Chinese culture.
Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge and commitment to maintain currency of developmental theories and evidence-based interventions.
You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including but not limited to criminal history and education checks.
