About the roleThe purpose of the Bilingual Health Educator is to support the implementation of the 'Health in My Language' project in NT. This role will conduct various health education sessions and related activities with both women and men in community settings.
The Health in My Language project aims to address health literacy, hesitancy, and barriers to service navigation faced by communities, with a specific focus on women from migrant and refugee backgrounds across Australia. These groups may include older adults, parents, caregivers, individuals of childbearing age or those who are pregnant, as well as people living in regional and rural areas.
A current driver's licence and Ochre Card are mandatory requirements for this role.
Day to Day you willLearn about the project through attending professional development and training at the commencement of appointment and during the lifetime of the project.Deliver health education sessions and other related activities within the community's preferred languages.Participate in planning and evaluation of workshop modules, health promotion, and training programs.Participate in the maintenance and development of educational resources.Support the preparation of reports, including collecting data on work undertaken.Undertake publicity and promotional activities in a relevant community language.What you will bringFluency in English and minimum of one other language.Willingness to travel within NT.Experience in working with linguistically diverse people and communities from different cultures and backgrounds.Experience in community development, including delivering workshops to community members.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.Proven organisational and time management skills.Demonstrated ability to assist in the planning and coordination of information or training sessions.Benefits that act for you, while you act for humanityFinancial wellbeing: In addition to your salary, you can take advantage of salary packaging that could provide you with a great way to reduce the amount of tax you pay - and get more from your salary.
