About Dunlea: Dunlea Centre, Australia's original BoysTown, provides staff with a structured approach to intervention that encourages positive behaviour and consequences through the Teaching-Family Model of Care. Dunlea Centre comprises a school and residential program for secondary students in years 7 - 12. The successful applicant will be trained on-site in the Teaching-Family Model. The model focuses on helping students build healthy relationships, develop social skills and set them up for future success. Staff are expected to build positive relationships, model appropriate social skills, communicate expectations and remain consistent in delivering components of the Teaching-Family model. Dunlea Centre aims for 'Behavioural Change, Educational Gain' for all of their students. Dunlea Centre is a child-safe organisation and is committed to the safety and well-being of all children and young people.

The Role: The role of Behavioural Interventionist primarily focuses on teaching prosocial skills to our students during the school day. The role includes supporting teachers in classroom behaviour management, as well as running a range of sports and activities for a group of young people with challenging behaviours. The position is full time (38 hours) five days per week working from 8:00am to 4:15pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:00am to 3:30pm on Fridays. Employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 Level 3.
The Duties: Building and establishing rapport with young people.Effectively implementing Teaching-Family Model of Care for young people's benefit, goals and development.Engage with young people in a range of different activities to improve their use social skills in different settings and scenarios.Communication within a multidisciplinary team, and liaise with relevant staff, organisations and families to ensure individual program plans are achieved. Adhering to organisation policy and procedures regarding documentation and administration tasks and duties.Working closely with classroom teachers in assisting students academically.Agency operates during school terms, young people return home on weekends and during school holidays. You may be required to run holiday outreach activities if required. The Successful Applicant: Have a strong work ethic.Be able to accept feedback.Experience preferred but not essential.Be able to collaborate with colleagues to build genuine and professional relationships and to promote shared commitment and a sense of achievement.Demonstrate an ability to work within and support a dynamic and collaborative team.Have the capacity to effectively communicate with parents, students and staff.Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office including excel, word and outlook.Prepared to be trained in the Boys' Town I & A, Well Managed Schools and understand the Boys' Town Social Skills;A Working with Children Check Number.Current Drivers Licence.First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
