Due to ongoing growth Kirinari has the opportunity for a new or experiencedBehaviour Support Practitionerto join our team based inWagga Wagga NSW. This position will allow for working at home until an office has been established in Launceston region. The ideal candidate would be committed to the pursuit of further knowledge through studies or professional development activities.
TheKirinari Clinical Teamreceives referrals from across the sector from a range of individuals living in different circumstances with different goals. As a Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP) you will be responsible for providing specialist behaviour support services to National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants and their support teams.
As a BSP within Kirinari, you will be responsible for the promotion of positive behaviour support within the organisation and the enhancement of the quality of life of its customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance and a commitment to the policies and procedures and delegations of Kirinari, together with the relevant national and state legislation and policy, including the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
Have a thorough understanding of, and promote the reduction of Restrictive Practices across Kirinari and its customers
Develop positive relationships and work with relevant stakeholders that include individuals, families, specialist support services and relevant government organisations in the delivery of positive behaviour support
Develop, implement and review positive Behaviour Support Plans that address behaviours of concern and enhance the quality of life for participants
Utilise a range of data tools, to complete behavioural analysis and functional assessments
Continued participation in opportunities for professional development to ensure high quality service delivery and consistency with current trends
Balance priorities and maintain an active clinical caseload in consultation with the Clinical Services Manager
Accurate record keeping and reporting
About You:
A relevant degree and/or demonstrated experience in support of individuals with disability and complex needs and behaviours of concern would be highly regarded, but not mandatory
Current registration to practice as a core, proficient or advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner in accordance with the NDIS Capability Framework would be highly regarded yet not mandatory.
A thorough understanding of relevant policy and legislation relating to Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practice's at national and state level, including the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
Must have a desire to learn and work as part of a transdisciplinary team.
Have experience of, or a thorough understanding of the concepts and principles of Positive Behaviour Support, including functional behaviour assessment, development of positive behaviour support plans, and their implementation and review
High quality written and verbal skills, including excellent computer skills, interpersonal skills, and time management ability
Ability to work both autonomously and as a member of the Behaviour Support team
Hold a current driver's license and a willingness to travel interstate
Ability to obtain a NDIS Workers Check before commencement
Ability to obtain the relevant state Working With Children Check before commencement
