We have a new opportunity for a professional and diligent Behavioural Support and Safeguarding Specialist to join the Practice, Risk and Quality team on a 12mth contract. Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer to provide specialist advice and support to operational teams working with Resident/Client's that demonstrate behaviours of concern, assessing safeguarding risk and providing advice on mitigations to strengthen practice and support an environment free from harm.
In this integral position you will apply a non-judgemental approach to sensitive information and complex situations with potential new and existing Resident/Client that demonstrate behaviours of concern.
Your ability to effectively communicate at all levels together with your curiosity, investigative ability and high attention to details will aid your success. Your ability to think on your feet, evaluate and present non bias, fact based information in a succinct manor will be critical.
Within this role you'll be responsible for:
• Coordinating the development and review of behaviour support practice frameworks, policies, procedures, and processes to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legislations and jurisdictional requirements
• Supporting operational teams to proactively identify behaviours of concern
• Attending sites to meet and directly assess and consult with Resident/Clients
• Developing, monitoring and modifying Behaviour Support Plans and recommending actions
• Monthly reporting to NDIS Commission and guiding operations in the timely management and lodgement of mandatory reports
• Facilitating and developing knowledge and skills of employees in positive approach to Behaviour Support
• Providing expert advice and guidance in line with safeguarding principles to reduce risk
• Guiding employees in the handling of safeguarding disclosures/concerns
• Conducting and coordinating risk assessment/ preadmission screening and development of mitigations in complex circumstances
• Preparing reports and participate in clinical governance and risk processes to identify any trends or risks and recommendations for improvement
• Liaise with relevant external stakeholders such as NCAT, Police, Ageing and Disability Commission, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, and the NDIS Commission
The successful candidate will be highly organised and proactive in their approach, with the ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders, manage expectations and meet deadlines. Additionally, to be successful in this role you'll have;
• Completion of relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Support or similar
• 3+ years demonstrated experience in a similar position in Aged Care/NDIS – preferred
• Experience in Disability, Justice or Mental Health will be an advantage
• Strong understanding of current and changing legislations (Aged Care ACT/NDIS) related to Behaviour Support and Safeguarding
• Ability to develop effective Behavioural Support Plans
• Strong computer literacy (MS Office) with a good understanding of reporting and data analytics
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Willingness to apply for a Police Check, NDIS Check, and travel when required
