Job Summary:
As Mechanical Field Engineer, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
Interpreting mechanical design drawings, codes and specifications, equipment installation, and field verification of materials. Conducting constructability reviews and coordinating design issues relating to the mechanical discipline such as mechanical equipment installation, maintenance, and testing. Reviewing material receiving reports and performing material receiving inspections. Working with the engineering and procurement organizations to ensure that design documents, drawings and vendor manuals are on site prior to the receipt of the equipment. Issuing Field Material Requisitions (FMRs) for the purchase of permanent plant materials. Coordinating with vendor technical advisors as required. Performing other duties as required by the Mechanical Lead Field Engineer. Education and Experience Requirements:
- University/B.S degree in a relevant engineering discipline is desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.
- 3-5 years minimum construction/field engineering experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program. Have working knowledge of mechanical operations. Must be familiar with internationally accepted mechanical codes and standards (e.g. – Australian Codes and Standards, ASME). Direct Hire Experience, preferably in a lump-sum environment. Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes, including Standard Work Process Procedures, is preferred. Experience in LNG facilities is preferred. Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Infoworks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards. Excellent communication and problem-solving ability. This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include:
Extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site. Climbing ladders and working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). Use of personal fall arrest equipment. Walking and working on uneven surfaces. Working in constricted and/or confined spaces. Variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.). Work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.). The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site. This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
