Job Title: Senior Project Manager / Battery Lead Location: Melbourne or Sydney, Australia TGRC partnered with a leading independent power producer (IPP) at the forefront of Australia's energy transition. Our mission is to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy solutions to drive a sustainable future. We specialize in the development, financing, construction, and operation of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team in either Melbourne or Sydney. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) transactions from conception to Final Investment Decision (FID). This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of the Australian energy market and the ability to navigate through all key critical development milestones of BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage utility-scale BESS projects from initial concept through to FID.
Oversee all aspects of project development, including feasibility studies, site selection, permitting, and stakeholder engagement.
Ensure the successful completion of all critical development milestones, including land acquisition, grid connection approvals, environmental assessments, and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to secure necessary permits and approvals.
Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
Conduct financial modeling and risk assessments to support investment decisions.
Negotiate and secure project financing, including equity and debt arrangements.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, landowners, and community groups.
Represent the company at industry events, public hearings, and community meetings.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and optimal design of BESS projects.
Oversee procurement processes, including the selection of contractors, suppliers, and technology providers.
Stay abreast of regulatory developments, market trends, and technological advancements in the Australian energy sector.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market intelligence and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Australian energy market, with a focus on utility-scale BESS or Solar projects.
Demonstrated experience leading BESS transactions from conception to FID.
Strong understanding of the Australian regulatory framework, grid connection processes, and market dynamics.
Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
