Purpose of the Position
The Coordinator Secretariat will lead a small team responsible for the coordination, monitoring, and provision of secretariat support and services to the Batchelor Institute Governance committees and provide administrative and project support to the Director Executive Services.
Duties Coordinate, monitor and deliver the provision of high-level administrative support and secretariat services to Governance Committees in accordance with legislative frameworks and to ensure statutory responsibilities and obligations are met. Lead a small team that contributes to the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting on governance frameworks and functions within the Institute. Provide advice and support to the Director Executive Services and other senior staff on matters relating to Governance project initiatives reflecting contemporary practice and emerging trends that impact the Institute. Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships and strategic alliances with internal and external stakeholders at local and national levels. Prepare reports, briefings and correspondence, including Ministerial and meeting briefings and consultation materials. Other duties and tasks as deemed appropriate by the Director Executive Services. Selection Criteria Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to provide advice and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Non-Government Organisations. Proven experience providing quality governance support services, preferably in a tertiary education context including a secretariat function. Demonstrated personal attributes including leadership and management skills, an astute and sensitive approach to working in a complex and challenging business environment, demonstrated drive and enthusiasm, self-motivation, and strong ethical values. Demonstrated ability to behave with professionalism and probity, to plan and manage programs and projects while operating within the boundaries of organisational processes and policies. Extensive experience and ability in interpreting and applying legislation and application of confidentiality principles. Proven ability to work and communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous people as well as people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Desirable Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Institute's structure, functions and objectives. Qualification in Corporate Governance or similar.
