Job Description: We are seeking a Senior Batch Management Engineer to lead the transition of batch processing services from an incumbent service provider to internal operations.
This role involves overseeing the migration of batch job management systems, ensuring smooth integration, and optimizing batch processing workflows for efficiency and reliability.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in batch management technologies, transition management, and performance optimization, with a proven track record of managing complex transitions while maintaining operational stability.
Key Responsibilities: Transition Management: Lead the transition of batch processing services and tools from the incumbent service provider to internal teams, ensuring a seamless migration.
Develop and execute a detailed transition plan, including timelines, milestones, risk assessments, and contingency procedures.
Coordinate with the incumbent provider to gather comprehensive documentation, configurations, and knowledge transfer materials related to batch processing systems.
Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions for internal teams to ensure they are equipped to manage and support batch processing operations post-transition.
Batch Job Management: Oversee the configuration, installation, and optimization of batch job management systems, such as Autosys, Control-M, Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS), or similar platforms.
Ensure batch jobs are scheduled, executed, and monitored effectively to support critical business processes and meet service level agreements (SLAs).
Develop and implement batch job scheduling policies, including job dependencies, failure handling, and recovery procedures.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to batch job execution, including performance bottlenecks and system failures.
Performance Optimization: Continuously analyze and optimize batch processing workflows to improve efficiency, reduce job processing times, and minimize operational costs.
Implement best practices for batch job management, including job prioritization, resource allocation, and workload balancing.
Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Incident Management and Troubleshooting: Act as the primary point of escalation for complex batch processing incidents, providing expert troubleshooting and resolution.
Develop and enforce incident management protocols for handling batch job failures, performance issues, and system outages.
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain detailed documentation for batch processing systems, including job schedules, configurations, and operational procedures.
Ensure that batch processing practices comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and data protection standards.
Prepare reports and documentation for audits, compliance reviews, and performance assessments.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with IT teams, including infrastructure, database, and application administrators, to ensure seamless integration of batch processing systems.
Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams, ensuring effective management of batch processing operations.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on transition progress, system performance, and any issues encountered.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with batch job management tool vendors, ensuring timely support, updates, and issue resolution.
Oversee licensing agreements, ensuring compliance with vendor contracts and managing renewals as needed.
Project Management: Lead project initiatives related to batch job management, including upgrades, migrations, and optimizations.
Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful completion of batch management projects.
Job Qualifications (Must Have Skills) Must be an Australian Citizen, and a security clearance is desirable.
Experience in managing batch job scheduling and execution in enterprise environments.
Extensive experience with scheduling tools like Control-M, Autosys or IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler.
Proven experience transitioning batch job processes from external providers to in-house operations.
Hands-on experience with incident management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for batch job environments Job Qualifications (Preferred Skills) Expertise in batch job scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting in a multi-platform environment (Linux, Windows, Unix, etc.).
Strong knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automating batch job processes.
Familiarity with database and application integration in batch job processes.
Strong understanding of dependencies, triggers, and error-handling mechanisms for batch job Due to the secure nature of this role, Australian citizens with an active security clearance will be preferred.
