BA proudly manages Australian national teams (Boomers & Opals, Rollers & Gliders, men's and women's 3x3 and junior national teams), athlete pathways, the Centre of Excellence facility, national championship events, major international events and leads community programs for the good of the whole sport. We are excited to be launching the new Basketball Australia Strategic Plan (2025-2028), the Whole of Sport Basketball 2040 Vision and refreshed BA Values. These critical foundations, along with our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) (2024-2026), and BA's Women & Girls Strategy will set our direction and represent how we will bring our mission to life. Chief Marketing & Engagement Officer As the Chief Marketing & Engagement Officer (CMEO) is a critical strategic leadership position at Basketball Australia. The CMEO will be responsible for driving and leading the business strategic plans to achieve and exceed the BA Strategic Plan 2025-2028 and Whole of Sport Basketball 2040 Vision. The CMEO is pivotal in shaping the Basketball Australia brand, fostering deeper fan engagement, and creating narratives that resonate nationally and globally and shape perception of basketball in Australia to ensure our sport continues to grow and elevate across all key success areas. Working closely with internal leader stakeholders, and externally with the Basketball State & Territory partners, the CMEO will bring passion, inclusive leadership and a high-level expertise and vision to the role. The CMEO will provide strategic insights in relation to elevating engagement of the sport nationally and internationally that enables strategic business decision making to occur. The role will oversee a fully integrated team of marketing, communications, digital, and our basketball events functions. This role is full time, and ideally based in Melbourne, reporting to the CEO. The role will require domestic and may also require limited international travel and given the nature of the industry some weekend work may be required. Key Responsibilities Drive and deliver a fully integrated strategic marketing and engagement strategy for Basketball Australia that enables the achievement of the objectives of the Basketball Australia Strategic Plan. Drive strategic digital transformation for BA and its State & Territory members ensuring data and digital platforms enable the sport for all and sets up the sport for growth. Deliver the strategic Basketball brand and the Whole of Sport Basketball 2040 Vision to ensure Basketball is at the forefront of the sports landscape. Deliver and lead a fully integrated BA Events strategy both nationally and internationally that showcases our best athletes and delivers sponsorship and visibility of basketball as a sport. Engage in high level strategic stakeholder management to represent BA, the whole of sport with stakeholders internal and external who have the ability to impact the sport direction and future prospects. Provide strategic insights in relation to elevating engagement of the sport nationally and internationally to the CEO and leadership team that enables strategic business decision making in this strategic plan and the next plan. Champion the sport of Basketball externally to potential and current partners, external stakeholder and represent BA proudly, with confidence and conviction. Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board in relation to BA marketing and engagement activities and direction. Qualifications, Capability and Experience Relevant tertiary or post tertiary qualifications. Senior leadership experience in a comparable strategic role preferably in sport. Demonstrated success in setting the business strategic direction and establishing effective marketing, engagement, digital and event strategies that achieves an organisations vision. Technical and strategic expertise in brand marketing, consumer engagement and digital transformation. Proven contemporary people and function leader. Proven influencer in the marketing & engagement environment working in a complex multi stakeholder environment. Knowledge and understanding of the federated sporting landscape and a vision of what is possible. Ability to think strategically and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
