Full time Basair Group is shaping the industry of aviation education.
With aircraft across our bases in Archerfield QLD and Bankstown NSW, we design and provide pilot training with an emphasis on quality, safety, and continuous development.
Basair Group includes Basair Aviation College for full-time training, Brisbane Aviators and Sydney Aviators for recreational pilots and part-time students, UAVAIR for drone training, Australia by Air for charter, and Eagle Aircraft Maintenance (EAM).
The Role The Head of Finance will play a critical leadership role in driving the financial strategy, sustainability, and performance of the BASAIR Group.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Finance will oversee all financial and IT functions, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and risk management, ensuring the organisation's financial health aligns with its goals.
This role demands a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills; an understanding of the aviation and training sectors is desirable but not necessary.
A collaborative leadership style is most welcome.
The Head of Finance will also act as an advisor to the CEO and will sit within the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), providing insights and recommendations to enhance organisational performance and growth.
Key Responsibilities Financial Strategy and PlanningDevelop and implement the organisation's financial strategy to support short- and long-term goals.Lead annual budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and operational needs.Provide financial forecasting and scenario planning to guide strategic decision-making.Financial Management and ReportingOversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.Monitor financial performance, analysing variances and providing actionable insights to enhance financial outcomes.Ensure the organisation maintains strong cash flow management and liquidity.Governance, Compliance, and Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax obligations.Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks.Oversee external audits, liaising with auditors and ensuring transparency.Operational LeadershipManage and lead the small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and high performance.Collaborate within the SLT to integrate financial planning with operational activities.Drive cost-efficiency initiatives without compromising safety, service quality, or operational integrity.Stakeholder EngagementAct as a key point of contact for financial matters with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and investors.Present financial performance updates and strategic recommendations to the board and SLT.Strategic InitiativesSupport the CEO in evaluating and implementing new revenue streams, partnerships, or investment opportunities.Provide financial leadership for major projects, including expansion, capital investment, and operational innovation.IT ManagementManage relationship with outsourced IT service provider.Ensure contract KPIs are maintained.Advise on future focus of IT services and provision to ensure compliance and business support.Requirements Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field (essential).Professional certification (e.g., CPA or CA ANZ) (essential).Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, preferably in aviation, education, or a related sector.Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial operations and deliver strategic financial outcomes.Experience working within regulated environments and navigating compliance requirements.Skills and Competencies Strategic thinker with the ability to balance detail-oriented financial management with big-picture planning.Strong leadership and team management skills, with a collaborative approach.Exceptional analytical skills and financial acumen.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.High proficiency in financial management systems and tools, must be familiar with Oracle, NetSuite.Attributes Integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical practices.Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.What We Offer Opportunity to influence the strategic direction of a leader in aviation training.Collaborative and innovative workplace culture.Competitive remuneration and benefits package.Professional development opportunities in a dynamic industry. #J-18808-Ljbffr
