BARGE ENGINEER – HIE Shute Harbour Warehouse We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Barge Engineer to join our team. This role involves ensuring the efficient loading and unloading of barge transfers in accordance with industry safety standards and regulations. If you are a team player with strong communication skills and maritime experience, we would love to hear from you!
Your Role: Maintain and service barge operating equipment to ensure optimum availability of the barge. Conduct and record planned maintenance on machinery and equipment in accordance with OEM/manufacturer guidelines. Perform and document all prestart, running, shutdown, and breakdown procedures, adhering to or exceeding industry best practices. Accurately record and process the barge transfer manifest and pass it on to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Ensure safety, health, and environmental concerns for all passengers, guests, and others aboard the barge, including delivering safety demonstrations or explanations of safety equipment use. Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the barge at the end of each shift or run. Perform any other tasks and duties related to this position. Perform deckhand duties on scheduled days. About You: AMSA MED 2 (Essential). Forklift Licence (Essential). C-Class Licence (Highly desirable). AMSA Master45 (Desirable). 2 years of experience in the maritime industry (Desirable). Sound computer skills (Desirable). You will also have:
A high level of personal presentation. Great communication and interpersonal skills. A positive attitude and team-working skills.
