The College has in excess of 800 pupils and staff, the majority of which are full boarders at the school during term-time. The Catering Department provides breakfast, lunch, and evening meal up to seven days per week during term-time and lunch for staff throughout the year. There is also extensive hospitality and event catering required throughout the year and a busy summer lettings programme during July and August. Events can be for internal groups ranging from sports teas, parent events, departmental dinners, and fundraising events, and also for external groups hiring the school facilities.
Reporting to: Exec Chef, Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie and Head of Catering.
ResponsibilitiesAssisting the Exec/Sous Chef and Senior Chef de Partie in the provision of food to the agreed standard within the budgetary limitations and the School's standards.Assisting in the maintenance of high standards in Hygiene and Health & Safety.Carrying out various preparations, serving, and cleaning duties in the establishment under the direction of the management team.Preparing a high volume of meals, salads, etc. as directed, using the college's policies and guidelines as a minimum standard.Ensuring that meals are prepared and presented and ready for service at the published times.Assisting in the service of meals where necessary.Maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the food preparation and service areas at all times.Constantly endeavouring to improve the standard of food preparation and incorporating any new techniques which become available.Assisting with special functions from time to time or as required, some of which may occur outside normal working times.SkillsMust possess relevant professional qualifications or have previous experience in a similar position.Application Process: Please complete and submit an application form, self-declaration of criminal record form, full curriculum vitae, and covering letter setting out, as succinctly as possible, reasons for applying for the position at Lancing College.
