Balanggarra Ranger Coordinator

Full time The Kimberley Land Council is looking for a Ranger Coordinator to coordinate the operational delivery of the Balanggarra ranger program and oversee a small team of Indigenous rangers to deliver on their annual works plan.
We are looking for a dynamic and resilient individual with proven skills and capacity in Indigenous engagement, land and sea cultural and natural resource management, project management and administration. You will be a natural leader who can build bridges of common understanding within a diverse team and a wide range of external stakeholders.
This position is based in Wyndham and works across Balanggarra country in the Northern Kimberley of Western Australia.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESYou would be responsible for:
Supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Balanggarra Rangers to ensure delivery of the annual work plan.Collaborating with other coordinators and staff to develop, monitor and report on ranger activities.Day-to-day administrative management of the ranger program such as casuals' timesheets, Traditional Owners payments, maintenance and stock take of equipment and supplies.Planning, supervising and participating in field activities to remote locations associated with completing the work plan and fee for service opportunities.Who Are We Looking For?The ideal candidate should have:
Experience and/or qualification(s) in natural resource management or community development or another related field;Demonstrated experience and confidence in working with Aboriginal communities, managing small teams and/or coordinating on-ground natural and cultural resource management projects, preferably with Indigenous organisations and/or in arid and remote regions of Australia.Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal social and cultural challenges in Northern Western Australia and willingness to commit to community empowerment, training and development.Experience in working independently with minimal supervision in a remote area and demonstrated capacity to remain focused, positive and organised in a challenging work environment.Good communication, negotiation and community consultation skills including ability to work with an advisory group and as a member of a team.Demonstrated experience in project administration and finance management including grant writing, reporting and acquittals.Literacy with common computer programs and proven experience managing emails and other documents.Please note: the willingness to travel to remote locations, including by air, to undergo Police and Working with Children Check and the possession of a current driver's licence are essential requirements for this role.
