About MMG Dugald River mine: Dugald River is one of the world's top 10 Zinc mine operations, producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017. The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023, the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine's power and reducing emissions by 33%.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women's only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track, and entertainment area.
Backfill Engineer Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the role will ensure mine backfilling activities are supported with appropriate plans and schedules which are then followed and monitored to provide for safe and efficient mine production.
This role will be based on an 8/6 & 4/3, drive in drive out (DIDO) from Cloncurry or Mt Isa or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Townsville or Brisbane. Relocation support will be available for successful candidates who reside outside of these locations.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies: Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline.Underground sublevel open stoping or other similar experience.Practical understanding of operational mining processes.Practical knowledge of backfilling techniques – Paste fill, CRF, and Rockfill.Key responsibilities will include: Maintaining key documentation related to backfill technical manual in line with site and industry standards.Undertaking analysis to determine strength requirements of cemented backfill for future exposures and development.Developing and maintaining paste reticulation system.Ensuring adequate testing programs are in place to monitor quality of backfill and bulkhead construction.Input into mine planning to ensure sequences and backfill types are appropriate.Conducting Risk Assessments where required to manage backfill operations and major pipe extensions.What we offer: Remuneration for this role includes a competitive salary package, annual bonus, and generous local allowances for employees living in the local community of Cloncurry and Mt Isa.
