Each day, we work with the best creatives on the planet as we shape an industry-defining product from our backyard in Sydney, Australia.The Role:We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the crew at MagicBrief.We're still early in the MagicBrief journey, but our customer base is growing rapidly, and our product roadmap is substantial. If you want to get in on the ground floor and make a significant impact on the development of the product, this is the role for you.You'll be an integral part of our engineering team, working directly with our founding team. You'll have a significant impact on our product and help shape our future.We're an engineering-led organisation and offer an excellent work environment with a modern tech stack that includes full CI/CD, a fully supported local development environment (frontend and back), in-depth code reviews and mentorship.We use a modern stack for design and development, including Notion, Linear and Figma.We use TypeScript and build scalable systems so we can continuously make progress on a solid foundation. We don't expect you to have a background in everything we use, but we do expect strong JavaScript fundamentals and a background working with React, and ideally TypeScript.The Details:Frontend is Tailwind, Typescript & tRPC, an extremely good battle-tested kit that's helped us deliver high-quality code at a rapid pace.The backend consists of Node, Redis, and Postgres. Easy to understand and scale technology stack.Local first dev, you can run our whole stack locally (including our Chrome extension), with one command. No more waiting for long CI runs, or deploys to catch bugs, allowing you to build fast with confidence.Participate in code reviews and ensure that the code is maintainable, scalable, and follows best practices and act as a technical expert and mentor to other team members.Work with our very small, but terrifyingly competent existing technical team to deliver fantastic looking and feeling software (You'd be eng hire number 3).Autonomy to cook and deliver, we'll work collaboratively on designs and solutioning but implementation is up to you. No more 2 hour meetings about button colours; we work and ship quick, if it doesn't work, ship again.Culture of delivery, we're focused on winning in this space so we ship rapidly and routinely, getting your hard work in the hands of customers as quickly as we can.Decent kit, you'll get an M3 Pro MBP and a 27" 5K display, sit-stand desk, all the good stuff.
