We have a pivotal role for a Principal Communications Engagement and Public Affairs Specialist to help us shape how people think about infrastructure investment at AWE Nuclear Security Technologies.
Package: £67,000 to £80,000 dependant on experience Location: RG7 4PR , located between Reading and Basingstoke

Introducing the role: We are seeking a Principal Communications Engagement and Public Affairs Specialist with significant and demonstrable expertise in engagement and public affairs to join our team at AWE Nuclear Security Technologies. Does your CV demonstrate this?
Key Responsibilities: Stakeholder Engagement: With a proven record of delivery in senior stakeholder engagement with officials and politicians alike, we need you to help us influence key decision makers at national, regional, and local levels. We have an amazing story to tell and we want you to help others understand the benefits and opportunities of our work. Strategic Planning: Have an appreciation of local, regional, national and international politics to enable best advice to be given in the broadest possible context. Lead communications: Work closely with the Head of Communications and the Executive Director of Infrastructure Projects Delivery to shape our narrative, create strong arguments, using compelling information to influence stakeholders. Delivery: Develop and deliver robust and measurable communications plans using the OASIS framework, ensuring they meet strategic priorities and objectives. Cross-functional communication: Working with other senior experts in comms, create and deliver a programme of stakeholder engagement to land our goals. This would be supported with internal comms, social and traditional media activity as well as a comprehensive events programme. Crisis management: Support the team in the management of crises, should they arise, providing strategic guidance and supporting delivery as necessary. Be part of the Corporate Affairs on-call team, responding to emergency and business continuity situations. What a Typical Day Looks Like: Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate understanding and support for our projects. Collaborating with programme teams to understand communication needs and ensuring clear, timely messaging. Conducting regular reviews of communication plans and adjusting them as necessary. Using visual techniques to make communications stand out and evaluating their effectiveness. Supporting a strong employer brand through strategic communication efforts. What We're Looking For: Professional Expertise: Significant experience in public affairs and stakeholder engagement. (this is essential) Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and implement complex communication strategies that drive behaviour change. Excellent Communicator: Strong writing skills for various channels, with the ability to convey clear messages and calls to action. Influencer: Effective at influencing and supporting leaders at all levels, ensuring good practices are adopted across the business. Team Player: Self-starter who works well as part of a team, with strong listening and questioning skills. Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office products and experienced with communication tools and techniques. Crisis Management: Proven experience in emergency and business continuity communication requirements.
