Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop electrical plans and specifications for solar energy projects.
Conduct site surveys to assess electrical requirements and constraints.
Design electrical layouts, including PV array configurations, string sizing, and electrical schematics.
Specify and select appropriate electrical equipment, such as inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cables.
Supervise electrical installation activities on-site, ensuring compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Coordinate with subcontractors, electricians, and construction teams to execute electrical work efficiently and within project timelines.
Conduct quality inspections and tests during installation to identify and address any issues promptly.
Troubleshoot electrical problems and provide technical support as needed.
Lead commissioning activities, including system startup, functional testing, and performance verification.
Perform electrical tests, such as insulation resistance tests, continuity checks, and voltage measurements, to ensure system integrity and performance.
Collaborate with commissioning teams to resolve any electrical issues and optimize system performance.
Maintain accurate records of all electrical drawings, specifications, and installation documentation.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Proven experience in electrical design, installation, and commissioning, preferably in the renewable energy sector with a focus on solar PV systems.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations applicable to solar energy projects (e.g., NEC, IEC).
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst) and familiarity with simulation tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
Relevant certifications (e.g., NABCEP PV Installation Professional, Professional Engineer license) are desirable.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
