Joining the Caterpillar technology team opens the door to a number of career opportunities that are not traditionally available in the mining sector.
We are seeking motivated and versatile individuals to join our team, working with a key customer at their remote mine.
This role's roster will align to that of our customers and may adjust based on which project you are currently focused on.
Our Onboard Specialists play a key role in ensuring the Command for Hauling equipment and system is working at its optimum performance, using your specialist knowledge and experience.
You will focus on supporting the MineStar hardware on the customer's fleet, with a focus on optimising system availability.
You will partner with our Application Specialists who focus on the software to ensure the customer is operating at maximum performance.
You will troubleshoot issues in the field, and work with key Caterpillar teams in product support to identify, document and provide solutions for ongoing product improvements.
This role would suit someone with strong mechanical or electrical experience who is looking to balance that knowledge with some computer-based analysis.
This job is not your traditional "on the tools" job but will involve some hands-on work.
Ensuring the Command for hauling Equipment is configured, maintained and operated to Caterpillar specifications and best practice.
Coaching and mentoring of customer personnel on interaction and operation of the Command for Hauling equipment and system are also key aspects of the role.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Support MineStar Command and optimising system availability.
Through close collaboration internally and externally, you will become a trusted advisor for the customer.
Providing technical support to MineStar Command System on-board maintenance Supervisors and Technicians.
Identify field issues, troubleshoot, and then track progress.
Analyse data relating to Autonomous and base machine faults, including regular evaluation of the data accuracy and integrity of the system Work with the Product Support teams to provide input and develop a plan for system enhancements and upgrades Report on the working status of hardware and software of the Autonomous system to Product Support.

Aptitude to troubleshoot mechanical and electronic systems Manual Driver's license or willing to obtain one Ability to meet the ongoing COVID vaccination mandate requirements of our major mining customers and regional governments in Australia and Internationally Top Candidates Will Also Have: Surface mining experience Mining equipment maintenance experience Thorough understanding of mechanical and/or electrical surface mining trucks Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or prior experience developing or testing on-board machine control systems or off-board mine control systems Sound knowledge of off-board communications and experience with radios and networks Ability to integrate and maintain a complex electronic system on a machine utilizing schematic models.
On-board experience with MineStar is highly desirable.
