What is expected of the Applicant: A Motor Mechanic's general duties involve performing routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety.
This includes diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic issues using specialised diagnostic tools and carrying out necessary repairs or replacements on engines, transmissions, brakes and suspension systems.
They are responsible for installing and modifying 4x4 accessories to enhance off-road capabilities, as well as ensuring vehicles comply with safety standards through thorough inspections.
Clear communication with customers about vehicle conditions and repair options is a key part of their role, helping to ensure customer satisfaction.
Additionally, they are tasked with maintaining tools and equipment, while strictly following workplace safety and environmental regulations.
Job Duties: Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and vehicle components. Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other parts for inspection. Repairing and replacing worn or defective parts, reassembling mechanical components using service manuals as needed. Performing scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups to ensure smoother vehicle operation and compliance with pollution regulations. Reassembling engines and parts after repairs. Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after repairs to ensure proper performance. Using computer diagnostics to assist in testing and diagnosing parts. Inspecting vehicles and issuing roadworthiness certificates or detailing work required to achieve roadworthiness. Maintain, test and repair petrol engines and mechanical components of lightweight motor vehicles, including transmissions, suspension systems, steering and brakes. To be successful in this role: At least 1-2 years of experience as a Motor Mechanic is required or any similar experience. At least relevant qualifications such as Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or similar qualifications are required. Good communication abilities to communicate with the clients and understand the problem statement. Ability to commute to work and travel to places for services. Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
