Key Responsibilities: The Automotive Electricians are responsible for the electrical diagnosing repairs and fitting of new electrical systems to the SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) fleet of ambulances and emergency response vehicles. The Automotive Electricians work as part of the Fleet Services team including Senior Service Technicians, Trade Assistants and Radio Technicians.
This role is on a 4on / 4off roster with associated penalties paid. Diagnose and repair electrical faults in Emergency Response Vehicles, including lighting, instrumentation, ignition, fuel injection, and cooling systems, ensuring they are operational at all times.
Design and install electrical systems for fitting multiple electrical accessories to Emergency Response Vehicles, ensuring they meet industry and SAAS standards.
Assist SAAS mechanics, subcontract repairers, and Communications Engineering teams in diagnosing electrical faults, testing electrical systems, and fitting accessories to Emergency Response Vehicles.
Contribute to the commissioning and decommissioning of fleet vehicles, ensuring proper electrical systems are in place.
Record all work carried out on the Fleet Management System via computerized job cards and maintain accurate documentation.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and general workshop, contributing to continuous improvement of workplace practices and efficiencies by complying with relevant legislation, SAAS, and Fleet Services policies.
