The Opportunity Come and discover the opportunity to join our Energy Services team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing department as an Automation Engineer. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions, and services to our export and domestic customers. In this detailed oriented role, you'll provide automation engineering solutions on DCS and PLC systems, SCADA systems, industrial/OT networks, and data collection systems, along with technical support to the Reliability and Operational Engineering teams. With a focus on providing innovative and modern solutions to enhance the capabilities of our shutdown safety systems and plant, you will work on new and existing equipment and business improvement activities. This exciting opportunity is not only accepting applications from experienced engineers but also open to graduate/junior engineers seeking to develop their career with the support of an experienced and resourceful engineering team. What Will You Do? Working alongside highly skilled multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure all engineering work is carried out efficiently and effectively, with quality and safety at the front of the mind. Apply your growing knowledge of automation systems to execute allocated tasks and responsibilities. Provide engineering input and collaborate with vendors to deliver fit-for-purpose design solutions on time, within allocated budget and at the appropriate quality. Provide technical input into project execution methodology and validation of shutdown planning and timeframes. Apply safety expertise and contribute to sustaining the ongoing integrity and safe operation of drive systems and associated infrastructure. Provide technical knowledge into the development of project design standards and scopes of work. Provide technical input into the development of commissioning procedures and equipment commissioning activities. Ensure customer expectations are achieved by liaising with external suppliers and industry experts on technical issues and collaborating with technical teams and equipment owners on new and innovative solutions. More About You Along with your technical skills, you will have experience in applying your analytical skills to address process performance. You will also bring: Tertiary degree qualifications in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar. Working knowledge of software design and DCS or PLC software development. Experience in SCADA systems. A commitment to the safety and well-being of yourself and others. Developed communication and influencing skills - building constructive and effective relationships. The ability to prioritize work and troubleshoot and resolve problems effectively and efficiently with a hands-on approach.
