This Automation Engineer role involves working for one of the largest banks in Australia and exists to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications through automated testing ensuring adherence to relevant standards and processes. This position sits within the Business Lending domain which delivers customer servicing and originations technology solutions for the bank's business customer portfolio via both online and staff facing channels.
This role will move you into an innovative and growing engineering team where you will be working on a range of business and customer critical projects.
Main role and responsibilities are:Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify issues, and address quality concerns.Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright to validate functionality, performance, and reliability of web applications.Set up and configure the Playwright testing framework, including integration with CI/CD pipelines and other testing tools.Collaborate with QA and development teams to understand requirements and create a test strategy that covers critical functionality and use cases.Design and implement test cases that thoroughly cover user stories, business requirements, and edge cases.Analyse test results, identify and document defects, and provide detailed reports on test execution and outcomes.Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous testing and rapid feedback during the development cycle.Ensure that automated tests are updated and maintained in line with changes to the application and its requirements.Keep up to date with the latest developments in Playwright and other relevant technologies to continuously improve testing practices.What do I need?To be considered for this role you need the following skills/experience:
Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in test automation.Strong experience in software quality assurance and test automation, with a strong focus on web applications.Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions, and integration of automated tests into these pipelines.Strong analytical skills to design effective test cases and diagnose issues efficiently.Good communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and to report findings clearly.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Collaborative team player.What's it like to work there?We are a collaborative team of passionate people with a shared ambition to make a difference for our customers, our communities and each other.
