The Information Management and Technology Division (IMTD) guides the Departments' digital capability and is leading digital transformation for the Department including Victorian government schools.
The Division architects, manages and supports the largest technology network in Victoria, supporting a user base of approximately 750,000 staff and students.
IMTD provides innovation and leadership in the transformation and management of the Department's digital capability through the implementation of solutions on the department's cloud environment (IaaS), enterprise cloud platforms (PaaS) and software (SaaS), using agile practices with a focus on user experience, security, and integration.
About the opportunity This is an ongoing opportunity to join the Information Technology Services team within IMTD reporting to the Lead - Systems Automation.
The Automation Engineer contributes toward the development of technological requirements and analysis of solutions for the department.
The incumbent will engage with stakeholders and conduct business analysis to determine the best technical solution to address business problems via various orchestration tools.
The Automation Engineer will contribute to and enhance the Department's Automation Catalogue.

As our ideal candidate, you will have: * Familiarity with SPLUNK, Phantom, SOAR, Orchestrator, Power Automate or other similar tools.
* Must have some coding experience - Preferably in PowerShell, Python & T-SQL.
* Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
* Ability to adapt and translate business requirements into a technical solution.
* Ability to recognise opportunities and the drive to raise them and see them through to completion.
* Establish target metrics to regularly illustrate the performance of education programs, behaviours and compliance.
* Develop a communication strategy and rollout plan.
* Builds behind-the-scenes support for ideas to ensure buy-in and ownership.
