Flexible Location: Melbourne VIC Employment Type: Full-Time Perm or Part - Time Perm / Hybrid / WFM About the Role: We are seeking an experience Authorised Program Officer (APO) to join our team. The APO plays a crucial role in ensuring the lawful implementation of restrictive practices and supporting the development and oversight of Behaviour Support Plans for our Victorian customers. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, and a passion for safeguarding the rights of people with disabilities.
A day in the life of an Authorised Program Officer… Liaise with Behaviour Support Practitioners and operational teams on Behaviour Support Plans, providing advice on restrictive practices, data collection, alternative strategies, and legislative timelines. Coordinate reviews of proposed Behaviour Support Plans for Victorian Aruma customers with peers and external practitioners. Ensure adherence to Aruma's Behaviour Support Plan Implementation monitoring processes as per NDISC practice standards Module 2A. Manage the authorisation of Behaviour Support Plans for Aruma customers per the Victorian Restrictive Practice Authorisation Process. Regularly engage with Aruma's Reporting & Compliance Team for effective reporting of regulated restrictive practices, unauthorised practices, and reportable incidents. Support operational teams to provide an independent person to explain the use of restrictive practices to NDIS participants, ensuring they can seek VCAT review. Ensure all required documentation is submitted to the Victorian Senior Practitioner via the Victorian Restrictive Interventions Data System (RIDS). Support operational teams in notifying NDIS participants of restrictive practices at least 48 hours prior to use. Engage with external stakeholders regarding Restrictive Practice authorization as needed. Maintain data and access to Victorian RIDS, managing customer and service outlet profiles. Raise concerns about the quality of Behaviour Support Plans and legislative compliance with the APO Coordinator. Collaborate with Aruma Operational Teams to ensure Behaviour Support Plans and supporting documentation (e.g., Medication Authorisation & Purpose form) are current. Skills and Experience which will make you stand out… Significant experience working with people with disabilities, including those with complex behaviors. Relevant degree-level qualification. Must be registered or obtain registration from The Victorian Senior Practitioner as an Authorised Program Officer (APO). Detailed knowledge of restrictive practices and related federal and Victorian legislation. Demonstrated experience in data analysis and report writing. Proven experience working with complex stakeholder groups. Strong project administrative skills, including time management, task coordination, and efficient work practices.
