Authorised Officer – Bendigo

About the role
As a member of the Customer team, an Authorised Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day reporting of offences under the Transport Act with a focus on anti-social behaviour particularly on late night Friday and Saturday services and special events.
The role will work with V/Line management to ensure trouble-free and safe travel for customers travelling on V/Line Passenger vehicles.
Assist management in preparing for and responding to operational incident/emergency response. This includes participation in emergency and incident management training, exercises and forums.
In addition to performing the duties specified in this position description, an employee may be required to undertake other duties or functions consistent with their classification, capabilities, and skills.
You'll use your exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills to create a safe and smooth operating environment.
Key Accountabilities include:
Report all offences detected and submit relevant reports in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring all reports are of the highest standard for successful prosecution. Provide timely written reports to the Team Leader – AOs of all security and anti-social related behavioural incidents that will be included in the monthly Executive Security Management Meetings. Assist the AO management team to effectively respond to operational and emergency incidents. Assist in the security and preservation of V/Line rolling stock, infrastructure vehicles and station property. Deterring anti-social behaviours, crime, vandalism, and fare evasion by way of visible presence and reporting of offences under the Victorian Transport Act and Regulations on board trains and at railway stations or premises operated by V/Line. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent education and/or experience. Highly developed interpersonal skills. Experience in dealing with difficult or confrontational situations including de-escalating volatile situations to ensure safety is highly regarded. Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Employees Agreement 2019 / Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019.
