The opportunity The Operational Infrastructure team designs, delivers and manages ICT infrastructure that directly supports and contributes to the ASIO mission. Our team is a dynamic and collaborative group from various technical backgrounds, working together to drive innovation and excellence in our field.
Role responsibilities As a System Administrator – Operational Infrastructure in ASIO, you will:
Adopt and adapt appropriate systems design methods, tools and techniques. Plan the implementation of maintenance and installation work. Implement agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines. Undertake impact analysis on major design options. Make recommendations while assessing and managing associated risks. Review and comment on systems designs. Ensure that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Contribute to development of systems design policies and standards. Develop policies and guidelines for ensuring the security of automated systems. Ensure the policy and standards for security administration are fit for purpose. Review new business proposals and provide specialist advice on security issues. Evaluate and configure tools to automate provisioning and deployment of infrastructure. Monitor compliance of security administration procedures. Assist technical leads with the design of larger or complex systems. Networking (e.g. Cisco switching and routing, firewalls). Compute and virtualisation (e.g. VMware vSphere, Citrix Desktop). Storage and backup (e.g. NetApp). DevOps and automation (e.g. GitLab, Docker). Desktops and applications (e.g. Desktop operating systems). Monitoring and logging capabilities (e.g. Elastic Search). Qualifications The following qualifications or experience are desirable:
For the EL1 level - a tertiary degree in a STEM field, and/or minimum 2-years experience as a technical specialist. For the APS 5/6 level - a tertiary degree or other qualifications in a STEM field, and on the job experience within a relevant technical role.
